Collection 21 Private Car Collection Tour
This is your chance to view over 200 American built cars and trucks dating from 1900 to 1980. Not a museum, this is one man's personal car collection that he opens to the public on a limited basis to raise money for the Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky. The suggested donation is $15. Both the size of the building and the number of vehicles on display have grown significantly since our last visit. There is even a new model train display.

The Collection 21 Car Barn is located just off I-275 at 21 Kenton Lands Rd., Erlanger, KY. Take US-25/Dixie Highway south from I-275 past the KFC and turn right onto Kenton Lands Road. The Car Barn is the second warehouse on the left directly across from Stewart Iron Works. Following our visit to the collection, we'll head to a nearby restaurant for lunch. Details to follow.

Marietta, Ohio Overnight Excursion
The following are just a few of the many interesting attractions that we can explore during our visit to the quaint Ohio River city of Marietta. Additional details will be provided as we get closer to the actual event.
  • The Campus Martius Museum. The museum is built on the site of an original stockade constructed between 1788 and 1791 to house and protect the members of the Ohio Company during the Ohio Indian Wars of 1790 to 1794. The museum is also the present site of the Ohio Company Land Office. Here, Rufus Putnam, the first surveyor-general of the United States, made some of the earliest maps of the Northwest Territory.
  • Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park. Located on a small island in the Ohio River, Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park is accessed by a sternwheeler riverboat from Point Park in nearby Parkersburg, West Virginia. Once on the island, visitors can enjoy tours of the grounds and mansion and horse-drawn carriage rides. The island is infamous because the Blennerhasset estate served as the 1805 headquarters for Aaron Burr's military expedition to the Southwest. The Burr conspiracy hatched on the island is said to have involved a treasonous plot to create a new country independent of the United States.
  • The Peoples Mortuary Museum. The Peoples Mortuary Museum contains a curated collection of funeral furniture, caskets, baskets, advertising signs and even mourning jewelry made of human hair. The real attraction is Peoples' exquisitely preserved collection of antique hearses and other automobiles, including several Packards, a Studebaker, a 1927 hearse made by the Henney Motor Co. of Freeport, lllnois, and two wonderfully preserved horse-drawn hearses.

Overnight Excursion to Louisville, KY
We'll publish a detailed itinerary as we get closer to the event date, but some of the many possible sites to explore in the Louisville area include:
  • The Belle of Louisville. This 111-year-old historic paddle wheeler river boat is purely steam powered. A National Historic Landmark, it holds the distinction of the most widely traveled steamboat in American history. Lunch, brunch, sightseeing and dinner cruises are offered. You can also visit her engine room to see the original steam engines from the 1890's.
  • Louisville Mega Cavern. This massive limestone quarry was created by miners blasting out a mind-boggling amount of limestone for over 42 years during the middle of the 20th century. The Mega Cavern is the largest man-made cave system in North America. This 100-acre marvel has been transformed into a destination for adventure and exploration.
  • Louisville Slugger Museum. The museum celebrates the extraordinary role Louisville Slugger baseball bats have played in the sport's past, present, and future. From the forest to the field, you'll follow the timber that's turned into hard-hitting history.

The Cincinnati Dinner Train - 5:30PM
Saturday nights are magically transformed into 1949 on board the Cincinnati Dinner Train. The train consists of four vintage dining cars, a kitchen car and an entertainment car, pulled by a vintage diesel locomotive. The four-course dinner offerings include a choice of Oven Roasted Prime Rib, Salmon, or a Boneless Chicken Breast sautéed in white wine sauce. After dinner, patrons can visit the Albee performance car, where the Queen City Sisters entertain guests with their singing. Tickets are $120.00 per person ($129.36 with tax). These trips sell out very quickly, so once tickets go on sale, OVEB members will be required to purchase and pay for them in advance of the trip.

The train departs from the rear parking lot of Green Sales Company located at 2172 East Seymour Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio. Dinner Train passengers enjoy free and guarded parking in the open lot provided. The train will depart promptly at 6:00PM and travel easterly to downtown Cincinnati, and then to the riverfront. There, our train will change directions to head back to Oakley. The excursion lasts a total of three hours and fifteen minutes.
