Saturday , May 17th Oakwood Rotary Club 'That Day in May' Car Show - 1-4 PM The Ohio Valley Early Birds have been invited to Join the Thunderbirds of Southwest Ohio in participating in the annual Oakwood Rotary Club's 'That Day in May' Festival and Car Show. The upscale suburb of Oakwood is located between Dayton and Kettering, Ohio. The auto show will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 17th, in the second block of Dellwood Avenue, behind Oakwood High School and next to the athletic fields. This is the 50th anniversary of the Oakwood "That Day in May" community festival and the organizers are hoping to make it "extra special" this year. Coincidentally, this is also the 70th anniversary of the Ford Thunderbird and the Oakwood festival happens to be on the day before "Thunderbird Appreciation Day," which is always the 3rd Sunday in May. Show organizers suggest arriving at the 2nd block of Dellwood Avenue 30-60 minutes prior to 1:00 pm to allow sufficient time to get all the T-birds lined up and parked on both sides of the street, preferably in order of the year of manufacture. You can certainly come earlier if you want as there are many other festival activities to enjoy including a pancake breakfast, a fun run, 5K and 10K run, etc. RSVPs are required! They are hoping to fill all 20 spaces with Thunderbirds this year, so be sure to send your RSVP to Scott McGaha no later than Monday, May 5th. Let him know what model year of Thunderbird(s) you plan to bring. If you can bring more than one Thunderbird, that's great. Just let Scott know. If we cannot meet the 20-car allotment of spaces, then the organizers will fill the remaining spots with other makes and models of classic cars. This is a great way to share your love of Thunderbirds with the community at large. For complete details, please refer to the event flyer linked below.
