British Transportation and America's Packard Museums
Even though the weather started out looking bad, we had a great turnout for our tour of two of Dayton's museums. We started out the day at the British Transportation Museum (BTM), dedicated to preserving the British motoring heritage through education and vehicle preservation. Our group was impressed with the selection of British cars and memorabilia. After our tour we headed to the Troll Pub at the Wheelhouse in Dayton's historic Oregon district for lunch and a brief meeting. After lunch, we traveled a short distance to America's Packard Museum, the only restored Packard Dealership operating as a museum. It houses the largest public collection of Packard automobiles and memorabilia in the world. The OVEB members were given a brief presentation explaining some of the history of the place before viewing the over 50 automobiles on display in the restored Citizens Motorcar Company circa 1917 Art Deco showroom, service department and pavilion.

CANCELLED - Butler Private Car Collection Tour.
Do to the spread of the coronavirus and government-mandated closures, we have cancelled our April 4 tour of the amazing private auto and truck collection of Mike Butler. We will reschedule this event as soon as it is safe to do so. It will be worth the wait. The collection ranges from early brass-era cars, through the classics of the 1920s and 1930s to muscle cars of the 1960s and 70s including three split window Corvettes. There is also a very thorough representation of vehicles from the fabulous 50's including some extremely rare, low production models. Featured in the collection are many orphaned marques such as Studebaker, Packard, Edsel, Pontiac, Crosley, Willys, Avanti and more. A special section of the complex is devoted to trucks. The collection is NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, but occasionally Mr. Butler permits groups such as ours to visit. This is absolutely an event that you won't want to miss.
